Ambulance Bay Weapons Detection System (AB-WDS) Spec Sheet and Setup Guide

Modified on Mon, Apr 6 at 11:07 AM

The AB-WDS is Athena Security's advanced radar imaging solution designed specifically for ambulance bay and emergency intake environments. It enables continuous, non-invasive weapons screening of patients arriving on stretchers without disrupting the flow of emergency care.

Overview

The AB-WDS uses Advanced Radar Imaging Technology to safely detect concealed metallic and non-metallic threats on patients arriving by stretcher. It is purpose-built for emergency intake environments where speed and safety are both critical.

Key Benefits

  • Designed specifically for stretchers and emergency intake
  • Detects both metal and non-metal threats
  • Non-ionizing — safe for continuous use around patients and staff
  • Fast throughput with real-time imaging
  • Guided alerts to direct staff response

Safety

The AB-WDS operates at ≤2 W/m², well below established public safety limits. It uses non-ionizing energy that does not alter cells or DNA, making it safe for continuous deployment in healthcare environments including around patients, staff, and sensitive medical equipment.
