Please read through all directions before beginning and make a layout plan

Inspect your shipment for damage by immediately removing from the carton, and sign for the shipment as "Damaged". Take pictures and report the condition of the outside of the cartons, if dented or torn, in addition to the inside damaged contents. If you believe any items in your shipment were damaged in transit, email suppport@athena-security.com for help.

Installing your system

Step 1:

  • Unbox the Dell computer and monitor

  • Connect the USB keyboard and mouse to the Dell computer

  • Plug the Dell computer into a power supply

  • Plug the monitor into the Dell computer with VGA or HDMI cable. Then plug the monitor in to a power supply.

  • Plug the router into a power supply 

  • Plug the switch into a power supply

  • Plug the switch into one of the 4 identical "LAN" ports on the router using a 2' ethernet cable

  • Plug the switch into the Dell computer with a 2’ ethernet cable


Step 2: 

  • Open both stands to the desired height

    • The infrared and visual camera should be at eye-level for an average person

    • The HSRP needs to be at least 7 feet tall

    • The two stands need to be 6 - 15 feet from each other

  • Assemble the iPad stand (iKlip Xpand) per the instructions on the box, and mount on the HSRP tripod stand

  • You can wall- or ceiling-mount the camera and HSRP using any  standard 3/8" screw mount.

Step 3

  • Screw the HSRP onto the same stand as the iPad stand, connect to power, and turn on using the switch on the back

  • Screw camera onto the other tripod stand

    • If you are using a dual-lens camera (large white camera), screw the camera directly onto the stand)

    • If you are using 2 single-lens cameras, they will arrive pre-mounted on a dual-camera mounting bracket. Screw that bracket directly onto the tripod

  • Use one of the 20 ft ethernet cables to connect the infrared thermal camera to the router

  • Plug in the camera power cord into the camera, and connect to a power outlet

  • Place the iPad in the iKlip stand

  • Plug the lightning/ethernet adapter into the iPad

  • Connect the iPad to power using the lightning cable

  • Connect the iPad to the router using the second 20 ft ethernet cable




Step 4

  • Make sure all hardware is turned on

    • HSRP (switch on back)

    • iPad (silver button on top of the iPad)

    • Computer

    • Monitor

Helpful Tips

Notes On Layout & Environmental Constraints
Each camera will be plugged into the Athena router with an ethernet cable. Supplied 20 foot cable, if you need more you will need to supply.  
Mount each camera on the wall or a stand (stand included), in line with the following guidelines for placement:
Each camera should be mounted 6 feet high or above eye level. Should not be more than 9 feet in air.
Cameras should be facing incoming foot traffic head on.
Camera should be 6 - 12 ft from the scanning zone.
Camera thermal detection width is 36" ft wide (at the 6ft away mark) with the standard 15mm lens
Location selection should be inside, in still air.
Avoid placing near HVAC intake or return.
Blackbody unit should be same distance as person being scanned.
Blackbody should have clear line of view to camera. Do not allow people walk in front of blackbody. Best to hang from ceiling where no one can step in front of the line-of-site, if they are both at 8 feet in air.
Extreme weather can reduce accuracy. The solution is waiting in a controlled, room temperature environment until homeostasis evens the surface temperature of the skin/inner canthus.
